Bring on the interns! Thanks to some amazing college internship programs, the Mansfield/Richland County Convention & Visitors Bureau engages with students throughout the year. The start of summer semester brings a new group of student interns. “We have mentored over 54 students in the past 8 years,” said Amber Dobbins, CVB Operations/Membership Director. “We don’t just assign them projects, but they get real-world experience along with the mentorship to help them learn basics things like appropriate attire and interaction in a work setting, computer program shortcuts and tricks to make them more efficient, and even resume tips from the employer’s viewpoint. All critical knowledge for today’s competitive workforce,” Dobbins said.

Four new members were inducted into the Tourism Hall of Fame. It was a strategic year in 2015 for the local tourism industry and our Convention & Visitors Bureau. The organization took the time to take stock of where the Bureau has been and strategize how to better effect the overall economic development and to become a strong partner. The environment is well-suited for more collaboration on things that move the community forward and we are happy to be a part of it.
In addition to producing a comprehensive two-year plan, highlights for 2015 included helping establish the Shawshank Hustle, the popular Wine & Ale Trail, invested in the Brickyard Stage project, conducting visitor research and reaping the rewards of the national PR. ...
