What do Zombies, Coffins, and Deranged Criminals have in Common?

…….They’re all waiting for you in Mansfield for some scary good fun

The days are getting shorter and the nights are getting darker. Can you feel it? It’s in the chill of the air and the expanding Harvest moon; that time of year when ghosts, goblins, zombies, and the criminally insane are sprung and come out to play in the land of the living. Some of the most delicious Halloween treats can be found right here in the Mansfield area. So, get your heart safety checked, and if you dare, take a stroll through the supernatural and the spookiest kind of Fall fun.

New to the area this year is an event that’s guaranteed to be a blast, or a splat… of paint that is. Battle Zone Paint Ball located on Poth Road in Mansfield is holding the Zombie Apocalypse. Every Friday and Saturday from 7:00-11:00 p.m. the living dead will roam the grounds as you, the super-hero, save the world from their plans to take over, armed with only your cunning and a paint ball gun. Come dressed prepared to roam through the darkness and get dirty. Admission is $20.00. This is fun for most ages, although if you are under 18 you will need adult consent. Be prepared to sign a waiver. Those Zombies need protection from legal action should they scare the beejeebees out of you. This event runs from the end of September until November 3rd. If you manage to escape the woods unscathed and leave those Zombies behind in your dust, you might want to put your nerves to the ultimate test with a visit to the home of the criminal mind, The Ohio State Reformatory’s Haunted Prison Experience – Dead Walk. Rated in 2011 as the spookiest attraction as well as given the best soundtrack award, this 124 year old prison at one time housed over 155,000 inmates, many leaving their ghostly imprint behind. Haunted X enhances the already existing ghost stories with actors, animatronics, strobe lights, props, sounds, and special effects for an over the top fright night. Haunted X boasts this experience as the Supernatural meets Special FX! This phenomenal terror trek runs from Thursday through Sunday nights from September 28th until October 28th with a final performance also on October 31st, Halloween Night. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. with a box office opening at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $17 and may be purchased online as well at http://www.hauntedx.com/index.html

For the faint of heart, and a tamer ghostly experience with the criminally insane, Malabar Farm will be hosting the play, Ceely Rose, written by Mark Sebastian Jordan. This is a story of unrequited love, insanity, and murder. Ceely Rose resided on the grounds of Malabar with her family who she poisoned, one by one, so that she could be with her true love. She spent the remainder of her life locked up in a mental institution. Rumor and some paranormal investigators, believe she and others, still roam the grounds of Malabar. The play is an outdoor event held in the historic barn at Malabar. A ticket includes a wagon tour of the grounds with a visit to the Rose house, a catered dinner, and culminates with the play. Or, you can elect simply to see the play at the Friday performances. Play dates run October 12,13,14, 19, 20, 21. For information and tickets log on to http://mansfieldtrilogy.com/
