As Winter comes to an end, and spring peeks around the corner, we’re greeted by the promise of warmer days ahead. The rising temperatures bring a buzz of activity to the area, so dive into the March Happenings & Events.
Jump start this month with a trip to the annual Maple Syrup Festival at Malabar Farm (March 2 & 3). The 47th annual festival has live demonstrations, horse drawn wagon rides, and of course delicious food and maple products.

Local Shopping & Holiday Events
Spring is the perfect time to discover the charming downtowns across the county. Mansfield, Shelby, and Belleville offer unique shops and tasty lunch and dinner venues. Kick off the new month on March 1st with a dinner at Hudson & Essex, DLX, City Grille, or other downtown restaurants, followed by First Friday Live with Jeff Boyd and Friends at Social on Main. Adults can celebrate St. Patrick’s Day during St. Pat’s Day at The Local @ 97 (March 17) while kids and families will enjoy the St. Patty’s Day Party at the Richland Carrousel Park (March 16).
Easter celebrations kick off at the Richland Carrousel when the Easter Bunny shows up for photos (March 2, 3, 9, 10,16, 17, 23, 24). You can also reserve a spot for breakfast with the Easter Bunny (March 9) or join the egg hunt on March 30th. The City of Mansfield Parks and Recreation Department holds a
Drive Thru Easter at South Park (March 23).
So Many Classes
The Mansfield Art Center offers a variety of classes for all ages including glass blowing, tufting, stained glass tutorials and more. During the month of March, learn glass blowing and make your own shamrocks (March 1, 9) or Easter Eggs (March 15,29). Learn the art of glass fusion by crafting these cute gnomes (March 6) or take a tufting class to tuft your own rug (March 23).
Take a Bunny Felting Class (Mar. 2) or Leprechaun Felting Class (March 16) at Alpaca Meadows. Geared towards all skill levels, you’ll learn the best felting techniques to make three-dimensional figures.

Mansfield OH parkrun continues every Saturday in March. Strive to reach your personal best during this weekly event.
Stoke Run Skate Park in Butler celebrates women and girls in all areas of skating at Shred Like a Girl (March 2). This event includes goodie bags, prizes, workshops, contests, snacks and a mini art fair. Enjoy food and entertainment at the action-packed Tony Hawk’s Pro Gamer tournament (March 23). Sign up and show up for a chance to show off your skating abilities and win prizes.
Focus on posture and breathing techniques in the yoga classes offered every Wednesday at the Ohio Bird Sanctuary.
Theater, Art & Live Music
Theater presentations kick off at the Ohio State University Mansfield with The Trail to Oregon (March, 1, 2, 3, 4). Drawing inspiration from the 90s video game “The Oregon Trail,” this interactive musical features an American family’s 1848 journey from Missouri to Oregon, facing dangers like starvation, bandits, and disease. Packed full of improv, this is a delightful way to conclude your day.
The West Side Story Musical (March 2, 3, 9, 10) at the Renaissance Theatre Main Stage is a twist on the classic “Romeo and Juliet.” Set in New York City, this musical follows two lovers amidst the conflict of rival gangs, delivering a poignant commentary on hate, violence, and prejudice in one of musical theatre’s most significant achievements.
A Chorus Line opens at the Renaissance Theatre (March 2, 3, 9, 10). This captivating musical delves into the excitement and tension of a Broadway ensemble audition, showcasing the personal stories and dreams of its performers. With standout songs like “What I Did for Love,” “One,” and “I Hope I Get It,” it blends dynamic dance, music, and genuine drama into an acclaimed classic.
Over the River and Through the Woods at Mansfield Playhouse (March 8, 9, 15, 16, 17) introduces the audience to Nick, an Italian-American from New Jersey, who cherishes his weekly dinners with his grandparents, despite his parents moving to Florida. His life takes a turn when he lands his dream marketing executive job, requiring a move to Seattle. This news upsets his grandparents, who launch various plots to make him stay, including introducing him to the charming Caitlin O’Hare.
