Races, Competitions and Pageants
Whether it’s on the racetrack, the road, or the runway, come cheer on your favorites at these great competitions going on in June. Get your tickets and view vintage cars on and off the track for The Vintage Grand Prix at The Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (June 23-25). Or be in your own race! Enter the North Central Ohio Soap Box Derby and fly for the finish down Main Street. Enjoy the scenery at Kingwood Center Gardens for their 8th Annual Family 5K Run/Walk (June 10). Make your pilgrimage along the Shawshank Trail at the 3rd Annual Shawshank Hustle 7k (June 17). Racers receive a complimentary tour of The Ohio State Reformatory as part of their registration. Join over 2,000 of your closest Shawshank friends on this adventure. Mansfield has been home to the Miss Ohio Scholarship Pageant for more than 35 years (June 10-18). See the preliminary and final competitions at the Renaissance Theater and enjoy events across the community all week long as contestants race for the crown!

Summer means outdoor events and annual traditions. Check out these unique festivals, carnivals, and shows right in our backyard. Wander The Carrousel District in downtown Mansfield at the 2017 Artistreet Summer Art Carnival (June 3) and see, participate in, or buy the wares of local artists. Come see and bid on rare and interesting stones at The Richland Lithic & Lapidary Society’s Gem, Mineral, Jewelry, Bead & Fossil Show (June 3-4). See what’s growing at the Kingwood Center Gardens’ Spring Flower Show (June 3-4), be sure to check out the gardens and the competition contestants. Enjoy free boat rides, fishing, competitions and other fun events at the Pleasant Hill Lake Park Safe Boating and Fishing Festival (June 10). Swing back to town for food and tunes at The 4th Annual Shriners Chili & Wing Cook Off and Blues Fest (June 10). Bring the whole family for a jam-packed day of fun downtown at the Mansfield Children’s Festival (June 24). Some of the offered activities include carrousel rides, petting zoo, face painting, dance groups, a fishing booth, food and ice cream!
Get Outside
Experience summer on foot. Take a stroll through the gardens and sample along the way at Kingwood Center Gardens for their first Wine Walk & Chef Tasting (June 17). Enjoy delicacies from twelve local restaurants and wineries. Take yourself back in time on Ohio History Museums Day (June 24), as local history museums and clubs bring demonstrations and exhibits to Pleasant Hill Lake Park. See artifacts from the Civil War, hear from President Lincoln, and feel the cannons shake the air. Finally, add a little spooky to your summer night at the Malabar Farm State Park Night Haunt (June 24).
Experience the Arts
See the debut of young local talent at The Mansfield Playhouse in their production of The Little Mermaid Jr (June 9-10, 16-18). View The Thomas Wagner Collection “Outsider Art” (June 17-July 23) at The Mansfield Art Center.

Don’t forget to experience these on-going favorites all summer long. Explore downtown for the First Friday Shop Hop (June 2) and Final Friday Concert Series (June 30). Be sure and stop by every Friday for the Farmers Market in Downtown Mansfield or every Saturday in Shelby beginning June 10th. Get out to Pleasant Hill Lake for the Movies at the Lake (June 10) in the evening or just stay for the day during their Free Kayaking & Canoeing Days (June 10, 17, 24).
