Insta-Worthy Eats in Richland County for #FOODIES

When it comes to drool-worthy Instagram photos, Mansfield, Ohio and the Richland County area has everything from fine dining, ultimate comfort food, seasonal menus, made-from-scratch eats, and sweet treats to fill your stomachs and those insta squares.

Hudson & Essex

Upscale dining at its finest! The seasonal menu at Hudson & Essex is full of delicious items like tender sea scallops, grilled ribeye and filet mignon, and pork scallopini that taste as good as they look on the plate.

Cypress Hill Winery at Hudson & Essex serves up appetizers and small plates alongside house wines made from California grapes in the rustic winery.

The Deli at Hudson & Essex has delicious sandwiches, salads, wraps, and crave-able homemade chips that look perfectly appetizing when they’re served side-by-side on a rustic wooden tray. The Deli also has some gluten-free desserts like carrot cake and crepe cake tiramisu.

Uncle John’s Place

Ask a local where to eat in downtown Mansfield, and they’ll probably send you to Uncle John’s Place. They serve casual American classics and comforts like burgers, hand-cut fries, sandwiches, steak dinners, and fried fish and chicken.

The Chill

This vintage-style downtown Mansfield Ice Cream Parlor scoops out hand-dipped Toft’s ice cream as well as soft serve, sundaes, shakes and malts. They also have fruit-flavored non-dairy dole whips for vegans and people with dairy allergies.

The Vault Wine Bar

Located in Shelby, Ohio in a refurbished bank, The Vault Wine Bar offers more than 30 wines by the glass and over 150 more served by the bottle. The artisan pizzas are a local favorite, but the full menu features items like a deconstructed egg roll bowl, pretzel sticks, charcuteries boards, braised short rib, soups, and salads – all made fresh from scratch. Looking for a place to brunch? The Vault has a Sunday brunch that includes brunch classics like eggs benedict, mimosas, and Bloody Marys.

1285 Winery at The Blueberry Patch

A rustic winery on a blueberry plantation in Lexington, Ohio, 1285 Winery serves wood-fired pizzas, artisanal cheeses like baked feta and brie, pastas, salads, and more along with popular red, white, and fruit wines. In the warmer months, the patio is a great spot to catch some live music, sit by the fireplace, and enjoy the perfect wine pairing.

Blossoms Café at the Blueberry Patch offers casual lunch fare, in-house roasted coffee, luxury teas, and baked goods, but we can bet you’ll be ordering second and third helpings of the blueberry donuts.

Wishmaker House Winery & Wine Bar

When it comes to desert, though, nothing will beat the selection of towering cheesecakes from the Wishmaker House Winery & Wine Bar in Bellville, Ohio.

ABC Kitchen

ABC Kitchen in Lexington, Ohio serves comfort food with an upscale twist. These chef-driven dishes are made with locally sourced ingredients and “big city flavors” so you expect a home-cooked meal that’s anything but ordinary.

Buckeye Express Diner

At Buckeye Express Diner, you can get diner classics like half-pound burgers, homemade fries, sandwiches, and wraps in an Ohio State Buckeyes-themed, refurbished rail car in Bellville, Ohio.

The Happy Grape

Pair wines from around the world and traditional English cask ales with artisan flatbreads like “The Bartlett” topped with garlic cream sauce, caramelized onions, pears, brie, and parmesan cheese or a Whiskey Glazed Beef Sandwich. In summer, enjoy your meal with live music on the patio, which features a colorful mural by local artists.

Two Cousins Pizza Co.

Comfort food at its best! Their pizzas are great, but we can’t get enough of their oven-baked subs like the “Italian Slaw” with capicola, salami, pepperoni, provolone, mozzarella cheese and slaw dressing.

Authentic Japanese Sushi, Sashimi, and Hibachi in Ontario, Ohio. Eating hibachi around a flattop grill at Wokano is everyone’s favorite, but the sushi rolls look like works of art!

A little outside Richland County: Uniontown Brewing Co.

Uniontown Brewing Co. is a brewpub in the heart of downtown Ashland, Ohio. Brewing is at the heart of the Uniontown experience, but they are equally passionate about good food, made from scratch daily. Specials and menus change with the seasons, but perennial favorites include pub cheese twists and spicy tots for starters.

Last weekend we had the pleasure of exploring @destinationmansfield’s Wine & Ale Trail. The trail takes you to nine different wineries, breweries, and wine bars throughout the region. . There we discovered a B&B making its own wine at @wishmakerhouseofficial in Bellville, a delightful dinner at @cheershudsonandessex in Mansfield (including a tour of the 18th century lagering tunnels below), beers at Ashland's @uniontownbrewingco in a former furniture store that pre-dates the Civil War, a wine bar in a restored 1911 bank building, blueberry wines at @blueberrypatch1285 (Ohio's largest), Ohio's only exclusively real ale pub, @laxtonhollow, and much more. . Also, we may have snuck in multiple stops for coffee and donuts along the way…
