Convention & Visitors Bureau Recognized for Marketing Campaigns

CVB sweeps category in two competitions

The Mansfield/Richland County Convention & Visitors Bureau (M/RCCVB) entered two of their marketing campaigns in two statewide tourism marketing competitions and walked away with the top honors in both!

“Being responsible for and hosting both Tough Mudder Ohio and the Shawshank 20-Year Reunion in the same year (only 4 months apart), in 2013 was amazing enough.  Getting recognized for our ability to implement effective marketing campaigns for each for a small office like ours was icing on the cake,” said Lee Tasseff, CVB President. “I am so proud of Kim (Miers) and Jodie (Snavely)!  They worked very hard on each event.  It was validation of our ability to take advantage of our opportunities and to drive both awareness and participation for events,” said Tasseff.

“Both projects were very special”, added Tasseff.  “Tough Mudder and the Shawshank Reunion were two of the most valuable events for this region, generating millions in new spending and positive public relations.”

The Ohio Travel Association (OTA) held the annual Ohio Conference on Tourism in West Chester, Ohio on October 16-18.   One of the much-anticipated events at the conference is the presentation of RUBY Awards, a competition honoring those who have found the most innovative and creative ways to market their destination, attraction, or service in the diverse field of tourism marketing.  RUBY stands for Recognizing Uncommon Brilliance. Winners in each category received the coveted RUBY Award, while runner-up submissions were given the Citation of Excellence.  The CVB received the following awards:
Category: Marketing Campaign in the $300,000-$700,000 budget range
Tough Mudder Ohio – RUBY Award
Shawshank 20-Year Reunion – Citation of Excellence

The Ohio Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus (OACVB) held its 16th Annual Awards of Excellence Luncheon in Springfield, Ohio on Thursday, September 19, 2013, during the organization’s Annual Education Conference.  MIDDY Awards are presented for destination marketing and tourism development.

The Bureau swept the Promo Campaign category for Special Event in its division  with the Shawshank 20-Year Reunion taking top honors followed by Tough Mudder Ohio 2013.

In the 2 competitions, there were 286 statewide submissions in 24 categories. The CVB brought home 4 awards.

The CVB wants to recognize their creative partners in the campaigns: Teri Myers Designs, Spire Advertising & Web Design and Weirick Communications.
