The Ohio Taxidermy Association (OTA) will host the Ohio Taxidermy Show and Championships the weekend of March 26- 28 at the Mid-Ohio Conference Center, 890 West Fourth Street in Mansfield, Ohio. The event is open to the public on Saturday, March 27 from 1-5 p.m.
Wildlife enthusiasts will see a broad range of exhibits. The 2010 Ohio Taxidermy Championships will include a special display of mounted wildlife art offering an opportunity for the general public and the many Ohio sportsmen to see the most outstanding and varied collection of artistically crafted wildlife mounts in Ohio, displayed all in one place! Amateur, Professional, Masters, Youth and Commercial registries will be included in the competition phase of the Show.
The OTA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of better taxidermy practices and wildlife art. Convention Registration for taxidermists will begin on March 26 from 12-8pm and again on March 27 from 8-11am. The show will be open to the public on March 27 from 1-5pm. The general public is not required to register and will be limited to the mounted display area only. If someone would like to become a member of OTA, they can sign up at the show and register for the weekend’s activities. Taxidermists must be a member of OTA to participate in Championships.
Joining the OTA and attending the 2010 show will get you started in the right direction with the least amount of time, effort, and expense. Attending the show and becoming a member just for the seminars, trade show, and networking with fellow taxidermists is well worth the cost of joining.
“The Mansfield/Richland County Convention & Visitors Bureau assisted OTA with getting the show noticed to help build attendance,” said Bureau President Lee Tasseff. “After they made the commitment to come to Mansfield our focus changed. The biggest thing was to raise awareness about the show.”
“Looking at it as a long-term project was of great interest to us and the OTA. While we all want this show to be a huge success to help solidify the decision to bring it here, we want it to find a permanent home here. The impact of this show could be mean more than $100,000 to the local economy in March.”
For more details about the show and competition, jointing OTA, and pre-registration, visit the OTA’s website at www.ohiotaxidermists.com or call Jim Tucker at 330-878-7405.
