Now that Ohio has started to open, both virtual and in-person events are now returning to our calendar. Many of our member businesses have had to close their doors during the quarantine, but we couldn’t be more excited to support them as they reopen their doors to the public.
Show your support to our local shops at the First Friday Shop Hop in Downtown Mansfield (June 5). Our local indie books store has three events on our calendar: Crafts for Grown-Ups (June 13), Storytime for Kids (June 20) , and Borderlands: Poetry on the Edge (June 20) at Main Street Books.
Stay motivated with the Run Across Ohio – Old Lincoln HWY – Virtual Running Event (June 1-July 31). This virtual 245-mile run/walk isn’t actually on the Old Lincoln Highway. You can choose to do the mile wherever you want and break up the miles however you want, but the goal is to run the length of the highway from Van Wert to East Liverpool over 9 weeks. If you don’t feel up to 245 miles, the Parkrun Mansfield Weekly 5K at North Lake Park (June 6, 13, 20, 27) is a timed 5K for runners of all levels. You can also get moving with POUND and Pour at the Phoenix Brewery (June 13). POUND is a unique cardio workout inspired by the infectious and energizing fun of playing the drums, plus all participants will receive a ticket for one craft beer or non-alcoholic beverage after the event.
We have missed live art and entertainment. Enjoy live music from Electric Duo at the Hudson & Essex patio (June 13). While theatres don’t have an opening date yet, the Renaissance Theatre 2020-2021 Season Preview LIVE! on Facebook and YouTube (June 5) will give you a preview of what to expect from their season later this year.
The year would have been the 30th Ashland Balloon Festival. The major celebration has been postponed until 2021, but the Ashland Balloon Fest Fly-Over is still happening in Ashland, Ohio (June 27 & 28). The 29 ½ fly-over will take off on the evening of Saturday, June 27 and again the morning of Sunday, June 28.
Now is a great time to give back to the community. Donate personal and household items to the LoveINC Dump in the Truck Donation Drive Through at DLX | Dan Lew Exchange (June 6). A full list of items needed is included in the event description.
What will you be adding to your calendar? In the coming months, we expect to see more limited capacity events as well as entertainment options that allow for social distancing measures. Keep an eye on our calendar of events for updates!
