GET OUTSIDE for wildlife art, history and haunts!

It’s Spring – get outside! We’ve been waiting all winter for just a little sunshine and warmer temps, so pack the car for a little outdoor fun! Mansfield, Ohio has plenty of options with some offering almost no hit to the wallet.

An annual tradition brings families and friends outside for the Mohican Wildlife Weekend on April 29-May 1. This year the event merges wildlife art into the fold for amazing programming including famous wildlife artists from Masterworks for Nature , with John Ruthven an internationally known artist, as well as a Local Artist Display at Mohican Outdoor School and plenty to see and do at the Mansfield Art Center with Mohican Wild Art!. If you’re a history buff, head to the Ohio Civil War Show, April 30 and May 1, at the Richland County Fairgrounds in Mansfield. The 34th Annual event, features 750 tables of Civil War, WWI & WWII military memorabilia, Living History Encampments, and even an Artillery Show with full size cannons and Gatling guns. If you prefer some horse history, visit Malabar Farm’s Spring Plowing Days showcasing draft animals and their importance in farming since the1820s. The day is full of classes, competition, and pulls.

And if history doesn’t get you, maybe haunted stuff will! Mansfield is the Haunted Capital of Ohio and offers plenty of happenings. The Haunted Bissman Building offers events in both April and May for those who want to experience a paranormal investigation and Malabar Farm State Park takes you on a Night Haunt full of murder, bats, and a cemetery.
