February brings fresh energy to our community! Celebrate with lively Galentine’s Day events, romantic date nights, and activities that inspire fun and learning. Visit Kingwood Center Gardens for an Orchid Presentation or move those hips at the couple’s salsa class at the Richland Academy of the Arts. Shake off the winter blues and embrace a month full of excitement and connection!

The newest exhibit at the Mansfield Art Center brings light to the city and brightens the darkest of moods. You won’t want to miss Vibrancy, an art exhibition bursting with color and energy. Explore bold paintings, sculptures, and immersive installations that will lift your spirit and ignite your senses.

Experience the vibrant colors, shapes, and scents of the tropics at Winter’s Interlude: An Orchid Presentation at Kingwood Center Gardens, running through February. Nearly 250 orchids, air plants, and tropical plants fill the Orangery in the Display Greenhouse, featuring local moth orchids and exotic varieties from Hawai’i.

Valentine’s & Galentine’s Day Events

Enjoy a stroll through the garden or art museum, take a couples salsa class (Feb. 14) at Richland Academy of the Arts and then dine at a local restaurant for a romantic Valentine’s Day. Try Retro Speed Dating for those 50 and up at the Wishmaker House (Feb. 19). Mingle with singles in 5-minute intervals and then stick around for cocktails after the event.

Indulge in a buffet dinner, cash bar, and Bingo with designer purse prizes at the 6th Annual Galentine’s Day Purse Bingo (Feb. 1st) at the Mid-Ohio Conference Center. One lucky winner will walk away with a Louis Vuitton purse!

 Valentine’s Day Charcuterie Class offers fun at Hickory Vines Winery (Feb. 1). Advance sign-up is required. Enjoy a special Galentine’s Day Event at the Wishmaker House (Feb. 8th) for specialty cocktails, cheesecake flights, a special menu and giveaways and vendors. Call ahead to reserve your table or igloo. Sip from the unlimited mimosa bar when you sign up for the Bows & Babes Paint & Sip (Feb. 8) at The Warehouse Tavern.

Classes, Classes and More Classes

The Mansfield Art Center offers a variety of classes for all ages, including tufting, pen and ink drawing (Feb. 9), and jewelry basics (Feb. 13).

Learn to Crochet (Feb. 1), try a  Bear Needle Felting Class (Feb. 8) or join the Fabric Art Needle Felting workshop (Feb. 22) at Alpaca Meadows.

Learn to Work with Resin to preserve flowers (Feb. 27) and make a necklace to take home.

Get Moving!

Mansfield OH Parkrun continues every Saturday. Strive to reach your personal best during this weekly event. Stay in shape over the winter and make new friends when you join an adult volleyball league at the Dewald Center at the Salvation Army.

Kick up your heels and learn Country Line Dancing (Feb. 6) at Heart Hill in Butler. Register for your spot on the mat at For the LOVE of Yoga (Feb. 8) at Hickory Vines Winery.

Get outdoors and Hike for Health at Malabar Farm (Feb.8) or join an Owl Prowl (Feb. 14) at the Fleming Falls Preserve. Have fun and enjoy some of the best outdoor spots in our community.

Exercise Your Brain at the Phoenix Brewing Company. Get a team together for the monthly round of Taproom Trivia (Feb.18) for those who want to stay sharp during the winter.

Theater, Art & Live Music

The Annual Comedy Show Benefit Event at the Liederkranz (Feb. 1) is back. Support Mid-Ohio Youth Mentoring and enjoy an epic night of laughter with the hilarious Pat Godwin and Jeff McKinley.

Phil Dirt and the Dozers performs (Feb. 1)  at the Richland County Fairgrounds for Ohio’s largest indoor tailgating event in Fairhaven Hall.  Enjoy live music, a DJ, door prizes, 50/50 raffles, and a snack bar for a night of fun and excitement during the Lions Club’s biggest fundraiser of the year

The Emerging Artist’s Special at Theatre 166 (Feb.1) supports and encourages artists of all ages, helping them find their voice through original creations.

The Artistic Jazz: The Music of Count Basie at the Renaissance Theatre (Feb. 7) honors the legendary Count Basie Orchestra. With classic hits like “April in Paris,” “One O’clock Jump,” and “Jumpin’ at the Woodside,” this concert is a must-see for jazz and swing fans.

Preacher Lawson: Best Day Ever makes an appearance at the Renaissance Theatre (Feb. 8). Known for his standout performance on NBC’s America’s Got Talent (2017) and America’s Got Talent: The Champions (2019), he has become a popular comedian and TV personality.

Carnegie Hall Link Up with the Renaissance Theatre (Feb. 12) allows local 3rd-5th grade students to join the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra for an interactive concert, “The Orchestra Rocks” to introduce students to live orchestral music.

The Teddy Bear Concert: Little Red Riding Hood (Feb. 16) at the Renaissance Theatre’s 166 venue is an interactive retelling of this classic tale for young children and their families.

Said the Spider to the Spy comes to the Mansfield Playhouse to present the story of Augusta Waycross who steals her friend’s identity and beach house, sparking a hilarious mistaken identity comedy involving a cache of Colombian heroin and a mix of quirky characters.

Fun for the Family

We have plenty of activities for the family! Check out the Richland Carrousel, Buckeye Imagination Museum, and Ohio Bird Sanctuary for winter fun .

Free First Monday’s at Kingwood (Feb. 3) are back! This is a great way to experience the beauty of the gardens and greenhouse throughout the year. You may even catch a glimpse of one of the resident peacocks.

The weekly nature-based Oaks & Acorns is offered each Wednesday at Gorman Nature Center for preschoolers.
