Spend a Day at Kingwood Center Gardens

Enter through the stunning Garden Gateway visitor center and follow the brick pathways through flourishing gardens, past lovely fountains, ponds, and inviting spaces to pause and refresh.

The former home and historic garden estate of Charles Kelley King, open all year-round, showcases the Garden Gateway visitor center, terraces, gift shop, and greenhouses.  Stroll through vibrant gardens, tour the majestic Kingwood Hall mansion, and dine in the Gateway Café.  Come and explore the 47-acre estate renowned for both historic significance an horticultural excellence.

Kingwood also offers an extensive line-up of activities and educational programming that includes workshops, youth and family programs, and signature special events.

Storybook Trail- Kingwood’s Storybook Trail provides children and families an engaging literacy experience in the gardens. Children will enjoy walking the Woodland Trail in search of the next page of the story displayed on large signboards along the new ADA path. What a wonderful way to enjoy a great book and experience nature while learning! New books are featured seasonally and are available for purchase in the Garden & Gift Shop.

B&O Bike Trail Access- Kingwood Center Gardens now offers access to and from the trail between 10 am and 6:30 pm April through October. Guests can now hop off the trail and spend some time exploring the gardens or grab a nutritious lunch in the Gateway Café. B&O Trail users can park their cars at Kingwood for free to start their time on the trail here. If cyclists come to Kingwood off the trail, they will be able to secure their bikes to a bike rack near the Garden Gateway visitor center and are free to shop & dine without paying for garden admission.

November and January
Kingwood Hall is closed to the public in preparation and reset for Christmas at Kingwood.  All other buildings and grounds are open.

Christmas at Kingwood:
Open Tuesday-Sunday 4pm-9pm.  Ticket required.
$8 per person – Children 12 & under and Kingwood members are free with on-line reservation.

Daytime hours during Christmas at Kingwood for shopping and dining are 10am-3pm, Tuesday-Sunday. No general admission fee for shopping and dining.

Daytime Group Tour Price: Group tours are available upon request in a range of per person pricing that includes admission.  To secure pricing, group tours must be booked at least 2 weeks in advance. Golf cart tours also available. Please see our website for details and tour options.  Available daytime hours only, not during evenings of Christmas at Kingwood.

Parking: Over 200 parking spaces are available in the new auto-garden.  Planted bioswales and medians manage stormwater runoff with cutting edge environmentally sustainable methods while  providing a beautiful natural garden setting.  Handicap parking is available near the main entrance.

Kingwood is the 47-acre former estate of Charles K. King, now open year-round. The grounds are renowned for both their historic significance and the brilliant floral displays. The French Provincial mansion contains many rooms decorated with Mr. King’s original furnishings.

Consider expanding your garden adventure by booking a guided tour of Kingwood with one of these specialty tours- Grounds & Gardens; Fountains & Statues; Kingwood Hall.  Self-guided tours are available daily.

The French Provincial mansion provides an elegant setting for the gardens and is available for viewing. The Display Greenhouse features rare and distinctive plant selections. The extensive gardens and grounds offer an oasis from stress and commotion. Programming includes lectures, workshops, family and children’s activities and special events.

Kingwood Center Gardens offers several venues for multi-use events such as meetings, parties, weddings, etc. Kingwood provides all tables and chairs as well as set up and tear down. Please contact us for more information on fees, availability, and to book your event.  You can also add a guided tour to your rental.
