James Whitmore (Brooks) and Clancy Brown (Captain Hadley) were both taken on a personal tour of the Big House at Malabar Farm by local tour guides. You can tour the 32-room home of Louis Bromfield, Pulitzer Prize winning author.  Pugh Cabin, located on the grounds of Malabar Farm State Park, was used as in the opening scene of The Shawshank Redemption.

Located in the woods at Malabar Farm is a log home called the Pugh cabin. Built in the 1940s by a neighbor of Louis Bromfield, the cabin is the perfect retreat for meetings, conferences, receptions, and other gatherings which demand a natural, undisturbed environment. The log home features two enormous fireplaces fashioned from native sandstone, as well as two ornate chandeliers which once graced a bank in Mansfield. As a meeting place, the Pugh Cabin features an air conditioned main room which can accommodate fifty people, a lobby area, a modern kitchen and bath, a roofed porch in the rear, a grill, and outdoor tables for meetings and cookouts with a woodsy flavor.

The Pugh cabin is available for rental. For rental of the Pugh cabin, the Maple Cabin (overnight), and the Shelter House, you may make online reservations at www.reserveohio.com.  For more information on other rentals at Malabar Farm, like the barn, please visit www.reserveohio.com, or call the park office at (419)-892-2784.
