Liberty Park, once farmland, evolved into a treasured community space in Mansfield, Ohio, marked by its Witness Trees and the WPA bathhouse project. The Witness Trees, planted in 1937 by Boy Scouts, volunteers, and the WPA, became symbols of continuity and sanctuary, shaping the park’s identity and connecting the community to its history and values. These trees stand as a tribute to the New Americans whose vision brought the park to life.

Enhancing the park’s heritage is the WPA bathhouse, constructed with unique pink sandstone quarried from Fifth Street, reflecting the era’s dedication to craftsmanship and utility. Together, the trees and bathhouse embody the community’s commitment to creating a lasting recreational refuge and honoring its historical legacy. Their impact underscores the collective effort and purpose that transformed Liberty Park into a beloved space for generations.
