The Arkenstone: When the Desire for Good Things Goes Bad

FreeJoin us on Saturday, July 20th in the Community Room at the main campus of the Mansfield-Richland County Public Library.
Rev. Joseph Yerger will present a lecture titled “The Arkenstone: When the Desire for Good Things Goes Bad,” exploring themes from J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Hobbit.” Everything is theology. The divine theme of Christ flows through and within everything, especially the stories we tell or write. During this presentation we will consider how the desire for something which is, in itself, good can be twisted by our hearts into a wicked idol.
Doors open at 9:45 AM. The lecture will begin at 10:15 AM and conclude by 11 AM. The conference room will remain open until noon for fellowship. All are welcome and the event is free to attend.
