Perfect Paperweights
Watch glass transform from molten to solid before your eyes! As you learn to gather and shape this material you will be participating in a craft that has been around for over 2000 years. There have been advances; we will be using some of those same ancient techniques.
Join us in the Mansfield Art Center’s glass studio for a hands on, socially distant glass working experience. In this 1 hour workshop, students will create a one of a kind glass paperweight. You will learn how to safely gather 2120°F molten glass, add color and use the basic glass working tools. After finishing your glass piece they will need to anneal (slowly cool to room temperature).
Once your glass is annealed for roughly 24 hours you can come back into Mansfield Art Center to pick up your handcrafted paperweight.
