The American Premier of a New Rock Opera by lyricist and author Paolo Caselli and composer Claudio Caselli
This work in development comes straight from Italy to an American premier in our theatre to celebrate the 700th anniversary of Dante’s original masterwork. Described by its creators as “a bit of musical, a bit of rock opera,” it blends styles as diverse as those found in Rocky Horror, Alice in Wonderland, Grease, and West Side Story, and all based on the poem The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri.
A modern Dante starts a journey to the afterlife with the hope of bringing back to life his dead young wife. Following the path of his ancestor, he walks through hell, purgatory, and heaven. Along the way bizarre characters show him how eternal life has changed during the last 700 years. It is a timeless story of love, loss, facing your fears, and finding your way.
