Apple Hill Orchards and The Blueberry Patch offer pick-your-own apples, peaches, and berries as well as famous mouthwatering apple and blueberry donuts. No time? Visit one of the area’s farm markets to get fresh veggies, baked goods, Amish cheeses, and live plants.

Richland County is gorgeous in all seasons. Kingwood Center Gardens offers rare and diverse plants, peacocks and more. Alta Florist & Greenhouse and Wade Gardens make it easy to take home beautiful flowers or plants for a special gift or landscaping project. Wander through nature along the paths at Gorman Nature Center and the Ohio Bird Sanctuary.
A Good Scare
Escape from the terrifying inmates of Blood Prison each fall at the Ohio State Reformatory – the only haunted house located in a former prison. Hunt for ghosts and encounters with the paranormal at one of our haunted sites, like the Fire Museum and historic Renaissance Theatre. Mansfield has been featured on multiple ghost hunting shows.
Playing in the Snow
Fun doesn’t hibernate here! Snow Trails guarantees snow for great downhill skiing and snowboarding for seasoned pros and newbies seeking lessons. Even those who don’t ski or snowboard can get in on the fun at the snow tubing park. Cross-country skiing is also available around the region.
History
Richland County is steeped in fascinating American and Ohio history and RichHistoryAlliance.org makes it easy to discover it all. The first weekend in May, RichHistory Weekend is packed with events that bring our most exciting past to life. One of the United States’ largest military shows, the Ohio Civil War & Artillery Show, takes place during this unforgettable three-day, county-wide event.
Hollywood
The area’s history with Hollywood dates to the 1930s. Visit the filming sites of major motion pictures and television shows. See 16 filming sites of The Shawshank Redemption. Malabar Farm State Park was the home of author and screenwriter Louis Bromfield and where Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall tied the knot.

Tee off at Deer Ridge Golf Club where a mind-blowing 500-yard tee-to-green drop earned the club the label “one of golf’s best values.” Kayak or jet ski at Pleasant Hill Lake Park and Charles Mill Lake Park.
