For a third consecutive year, Tough Mudder will host an event in North Central Ohio. The extreme obstacle course made it’s home at Mansfield Lahm Airport during the past two events, but Tough Mudder Ohio will receive a change of scenery this year.
Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington is the event’s new location, and construction is underway to redesign the landscape from race track to mud run. Construction Manager Johnny Little is in charge of that task, which will take place over a three-week span instead of the usual four, due to scheduling conflicts.
Little gave an all-access tour of the course development to WMFD’s Brian Skowronski on Thursday, which includes a number of new or improved obstacles. Among them are enhancements to Tough Mudder’s signature obstacles; Everest and Funky Monkey, which have become more challenging for participants.
The course will also feature obstacles new to the Tough Mudder Ohio event, such as Cry Baby, where Mudder’s crawl through a gas chamber they enter after swimming a canal of water. Twenty total obstacles will be present along the 11-mile course, which Little says should provide the same muddy fun as previous Ohio events.
The event is scheduled for May 9 and 10, with spots still available for registration. The unique venue will also offer great viewing arrangements for spectators, who can register online at www.toughmudder.com
