Fall has come to Richland County and the family-friendly fun is ongoing! Enjoy all the classics like pumpkins and corn mazes. Go someplace new like The Barnyard or try something different like a Halloween Campout. Just treats, no tricks! See the list below for some community favorites.
Don’t miss out on the award winning Great Pumpkin Glow returning bigger and better than ever on Saturday, October 14th from 5 to 10 p.m. and Sunday, October 15th from 5 to 9 p.m. at Kingwood Center Gardens! Bring the whole family to see Kingwood’s grounds glowing with a beautiful display at dusk with over a thousand carved and lit pumpkins, glowing balloons, friendly scarecrows, festive gourds, towering corn stalks, and beautiful chrysanthemums. Get more value for your visit with the Pumpkin Pass, a special ticket that also gives you entrance to The Little Buckeye Children’s Museum.
Spend a day doing all your favorite fall activities. Fun at the Barnyard is open weekends through Oct 22. Kids and adults will love the corn maze, apple blaster, hillside slides, pumpkin slingshot, petting farm, inflatables, Barnyard ball zone, wagon rides and more! Apple Hill Orchards celebrates apple picking all month long with special celebrations like Kids Day on Oct 1 and The Harvest Celebration Oct 15th. Celebrate Fall with hayrides, apple butter making, bobbing for apples, pick-your-own pumpkins, old fashion cider pressing, and more! Head to Wayne’s Country Market for their free kids activities all October long. Recommended for kids in pre-k to 3rd grade. Octoberfest will include fun games, a straw maze, zip line and corn bin for the little ones. Bigger activities include a haunted house and hay ride (for a small fee).
Want to make a weekend of it? Bring your camping gear to Charles Mill Lake Park for a Haunting Halloween Weekend Oct 6-7th. Make scarecrows, paint pumpkins, walk through the kid-friendly haunted house and participate in contests. Hurry to Pleasant Hill Lake Park Oct 13-14th for their Halloween Campout Weekend. Bring the whole family for a weekend full of family-friendly Halloween activities including pumpkin carving and costume contests, chili and apple cook off, trick or treating and lots more! Enjoy this festival in “The core of Appleseed country”. The Butler Apple Fest, Oct 12-14, features apple peeling contests, bathtub races, live music and specialty apple treats.
