Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway or a spontaneous day trip, August offers plenty of memorable experiences throughout Mansfield and Richland County.

Take Flight

Airport Day & Fly-In at Mansfield Lahm Regional Airport (August 1)

Start August by looking to the skies during Airport Day & Fly-In at Mansfield Lahm Regional Airport. This year’s event returns to a morning schedule, bringing even more aviation excitement with visiting aircraft, special flyovers, and pilots flying in from across the region.

While you’re admiring the planes, grab breakfast or lunch from local food trucks, then stroll through the classic car show featuring beautifully restored vehicles. Entry to the event is free – find all the details here.

See it Before It’s Gone

Anthesis: The Precise Moment of Bloom at the Mansfield Art Center (Now through August 9)

There’s still time to experience Anthesis: The Precise Moment of Bloom, but not for long. Closing August 9, this thought-provoking exhibition explores the beauty found in every stage of growth—from seed to bloom to renewal.

Inspired by the rhythms of nature, the exhibit features work from 13 artists whose pieces reflect resilience, transformation, and the quiet moments that shape us. Wander through the galleries and discover artwork inspired by flowers, roots, changing seasons, and the cycles that connect both nature and ourselves. If you’ve been meaning to visit the Mansfield Art Center this summer, now is the time before this remarkable exhibition comes to a close.

Glass in Flight 2 at Kingwood Center Gardens (Through September 7)

Summer is also your last chance to experience Glass in Flight 2 before the exhibit leaves Kingwood Center Gardens after Labor Day weekend. Internationally acclaimed artist Alex Heveri transforms the gardens with vibrant glass and metal sculptures inspired by butterflies, dragonflies, hummingbirds, and other wonders of nature.

As you wander through blooming flower beds and peaceful garden paths, colorful works of art appear around every corner, blending seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. It’s a relaxing way to spend a summer afternoon and one of the area’s most photographed seasonal experiences. Be sure to stop by the Greenhouse Gift Shop or enjoy lunch at the Garden Gateway Café before your visit.
