Pleasant Hill Stars & Science Weekend

Thursday, August 13                  
9-11pm      Meteor Shower Kayak – Enjoy a kayak tour of the lake under the stars and the Perseid Meteor Showers! Binoculars are encouraged to look at planets and watch for “shooting stars”. Registration is required at www.MWCD.org/tickets
 
Friday, August 14                        
4-5pm        Nature Center Open – Visit the Nature Room in the Welcome Center to learn how to use a microscope!
5-8pm        Traveling Program Golf Cart – Watch for the traveling program golf cart with weekend schedules.
8-9pm        Perseid Meteor Shower Viewing – View the night sky with park staff on the Welcome Center Deck!
 
Saturday, August 15     Stars & Science Weekend    
9am-12pm  Panning for Gold – Learn how to pan for gold and the history of gold panning in the Clear Fork Valley. Hang out with a Gold Prospector and Educator on the Welcome Center Deck.
10-11am    Birding Basics – Learn about the most common birds visiting bird feeders at the Welcome Center!
12-1pm      Nature Center Open – Visit the Nature Room in the Welcome Center to learn how to use a microscope!
2-3pm        Sunlight Reactive Craft for kids – We will be using science and the sun to create a personalized artwork on the Welcome Center Deck.  An adult assistant should accompany children.
4-5pm        Stars and Stripes Cork Craft for Adults – Create a flag out of wine corks at the Welcome Center
6-7pm        Solar House – Interact with and learn from a model house run by solar power in the Welcome Center.
8-9pm        Perseid Meteor Shower Viewing – Hang out with park staff on the Welcome Center Deck to try and view a few shooting stars.
