Carnegie Hall’s Link Up: The Orchestra Moves

Carnegie Hall’s Link Up: The Orchestra Moves is an engaging interactive assembly designed for students in grades 3–5 that combines the power of music and movement. This program invites students to explore how music moves through sound, emotion, and physical motion, utilizing Orff Schulwerk strategies and creative movement activities. Participants will discover how musical ideas travel through time and space, creating patterns, motifs, and expressive moments that shape a performance. They will also see how music inspires movement, ranging from subtle gestures to energetic dance. Through hands-on participation, engaging demonstrations, and an immersive orchestra performance, students will experience how music comes alive in motion, encouraging them to connect with music in innovative ways. This free assembly is part of Carnegie Hall’s Link Up program, aimed at fostering creativity, curiosity, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts. The program is creatively directed by Octavio Más-Arocas and receives support from the Rupp Donor-Advised Fund of the Richland County Foundation and the Gimbel Foundation. The Mansfield Symphony Orchestra, comprising over 55 talented musicians from Ohio and the surrounding region, provides a quality symphonic experience, engaging musicians, patrons, and youth alike.
