Angora Goat Shearing

Angora Goat Shearing

Come Watch Our Angora Goats Get Sheared!
Join us at Alpaca Meadows during Fall Farm Days for a behind-the-scenes look at Angora goat shearing!
Sarah Karr will be here to shear our Angora goats, Mike, Ike, and Lola, and visitors are welcome to watch the process. Shearing Angora goats can be especially interesting because of their wrinkled skin and their abundance of beautiful fiber.
Angora goats are raised for mohair, a lustrous natural fiber prized for its durability, softness, and beautiful sheen. Often called the “Diamond Fiber,” mohair comes only from Angora goats. Despite the name, Angora goats do not produce Angora fiber—that comes from Angora rabbits!
This shearing demonstration is taking place during our Fall Farm Days at Alpaca Meadows. Come watch the transformation from fluffy goat to freshly shorn—and see firsthand where beautiful mohair begins.
