National Chess Day Celebration at Sterkel Park
October 11 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
$10Saturday, October 11th National Chess Day we will have two tournaments and a full day of chess on the new Chess Tables at Sterkel Park!
- 9:30AM – USCF (United States Chess Federation) USCF Rated Blitz RR (5 min per player). Round Robin format. EF $20. 100% returned as prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd. USCF membership required. If more than 20 players register, sections may be split into smaller Round Robins.
- Noon–3PM – Arena-Style Unrated Tournament. Entry Fee $10. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd based on accumulated points. Special “Bounty Prize” for any player defeating FM Carl Boor (3x Ohio Champ) in the Arena.
- All Day – Open Play, Games & Free Lessons. Casual chess for all ages. Come see our House of Staunton Fundraiser Chess Set Package that will be awarded on the 18th of October at Chess Day at the Mall
