SUMMARY:Fabric Art Needle Felting Class
DESCRIPTION:In this class you will learn the art of needle felting and create a design on a piece of fabric within an embroidery hoop which will also serve as the frame for your finished piece. Choose a design from a handful of patterns available or create your own design. Learn to transfer a pattern to fabric\, fill in the design with alpaca wool roving\, and felt the fiber in place. Or skip the pattern and let your design evolve as you go.\n\nNeedle felting is the process of using a single barbed needle to repeatedly jab alpaca/wool fibers causing the fiber to tangle and become compact. Both two and three dimensional pieces can be created using this craft.\n\nWe will be working on upholstery fabric samples\, some with designs that can potentially be incorporated into the needle felted design that you create. Finishing methods for the back of your piece will be discussed. Finished felted art in its hoop frame can be hung with a ribbon or simply on a nail through the screw at the top of the hoop.\n\nAnother option is to make a pillow with your felted design. Two pillow size pieces of upholstery fabric will be provided in lieu of the embroidery hoop. In this case you will be working directly on a felting foam surface without the embroidery hoop. Sewing and stuffing your pillow together will be up to you to finish on your own.\nYou might also want to turn your felted piece into a wall hanging. Again\, fabric will be provided but finishing will be up to you.
